I am a political economist and comparativist at the University of Chicago. I mostly study the politics of authoritarian regimes. If you want a complete bio, you can find that and more at my professional website.
This blog is a space for short-form musings about whatever is on my mind. It will be the rare post that runs to more than 250 500 words. I am particularly interested in Ukraine, urban design, Chicago, baseball (but not Chicago baseball), autocracy, architecture, historical political economy, formal theory, Russia, organizational economics, and board games, among other topics.
